About this page-reversing tool

Documents arrive back to front more often than you would expect. Sheet-fed scanners deliver a stack in reverse if it was loaded face down. Fax machines and some multifunction printers output the last page first. Bound documents scanned from the back produce a perfectly readable file in exactly the wrong order.

This tool flips the whole sequence in one action: the last page becomes the first, the first becomes the last, and everything in between mirrors accordingly. Pages are copied with pdf-lib rather than re-rendered, so the reversed document is identical to the original in every respect except order — text stays selectable, fonts stay embedded, nothing is recompressed.

The reversal happens in your browser. A scanned bundle is reordered locally, with no copy of it going anywhere.

How to reverse the page order of a PDF

  1. Load the PDF. Drop it in. The preview confirms you have the right document and shows the page count.
  2. Apply. The entire sequence is flipped in a single pass; there is nothing to configure.
  3. Download. The reversed document saves with an -edited suffix, leaving your original file alone.

When reversing is not quite the answer

Reversing helps when the whole document is backwards. It does not help with a duplex scan where the fronts came out in order and the backs came out reversed — that needs interleaving, not flipping. Merge the two scans and drag the pages into place with Reorder PDF.

Nor does it help if only part of the document is out of order. For that, Reorder PDF gives you a thumbnail grid where individual pages can be moved without disturbing the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Does reversing affect quality?

No. Pages are copied as complete PDF objects into a new file in reverse order. Nothing is rendered or recompressed, so the content is bit-for-bit equivalent to the original.

Can I reverse only some of the pages?

No. This tool flips the entire document. To rearrange part of it, use Reorder PDF, which lets you drag individual pages.

My scan has the fronts in order and the backs reversed. Will this fix it?

Not on its own. That case needs the two sets interleaved. Merge the scans into one file and then use Reorder PDF to drag the back pages into position.

Do printed page numbers update?

No. Numbers printed into the page content move with their pages. Run Add Page Numbers afterwards if you need a fresh sequence in the new order.

Are bookmarks preserved?

No. Page content is copied faithfully, but document-level structures such as the outline are not transferred.

Is the file uploaded?

No. pdf-lib reverses the page order inside your browser and writes the result straight to your downloads.
